COVID-19 Update – 28 July – How to claim money back through Eat Out to Help Out Scheme
The government has released more guidance on how businesses can claim the money back for the discount that have been given to diners.
If you have registered for the scheme, you will be able t reclaim the discount given on food and non-alcoholic drinks by submitting claims. In order to submit a claim, you will need to keep records for each day you have used the scheme, including:
- The total number of people who have used the discount, including children.
- The total value of all food and non-alcoholic drinks sold where the discount was given
- The total amount of discount given
- The period you are claiming for
Please note if you are claiming for more than one establishment you will need records for each of them and an overall value for the claim.
Claims can be made from the 7 August – 30 September and you are able to make a total of 5 claims during this time frame. The advice is that you claim for the following periods:
- 3 to 5 August
- 10 to 12 August
- 17 to 19 August
- 24 to 26 August
- 31 August
Once you have processed a claim you should receive a unique reference number. HMRC will then check the claim and make payment via BACS within 5 working days.
Please note you are still required to pay tax on the full amount of the customer’s bill before the discount is applied.
